Intro

Your conference is the most content-dense day of your year. Months of planning, your best speakers, your whole community in one room, and it is over in eight hours. Most organisations film a highlights video, post it once, and move on. That is like harvesting one apple from an orchard. Filmed properly, one conference can feed your channels for a year. Here is how.

Plan the Derivatives Before the Shoot

The difference between a highlights film and a year of content is not the camera. It is the plan. If the crew knows on the day that you will need vertical clips for LinkedIn, speaker soundbites, and testimonial pulls, they film differently: extra cutaways, cleaner audio from every microphone, interviews framed for both landscape and vertical. Decide what you need before anyone presses record, and the same filming day produces ten times the material at almost no extra cost.

What One Day Actually Contains

A typical one-day conference holds more than most content calendars use in a quarter: keynote talks, panel discussions, audience reactions, speaker interviews, attendee testimonials, behind-the-scenes moments, and the energy of the venue itself. Each of these is a different piece of content for a different purpose. The keynote becomes a flagship film. The panels become clip series. The testimonials become sales assets. The b-roll becomes the promo for next year.

The Derivative Menu

From one well-planned filming day we typically deliver: a highlights film for the homepage and next year’s promotion, individual speaker films that presenters share with their own networks, a set of 30 to 60 second social cuts released weekly, testimonial clips for sales conversations, quote cards pulled from transcripts, and an internal version for teams who could not attend. Released on a schedule, that is content every week for months from a single day on site.

The Twelve-Month Calendar

The schedule matters as much as the footage. Month one: highlights film and thank-you posts while the event is warm. Months two to five: weekly speaker clips, each one tagging the speaker, who shares it to their network. Months six to nine: themed cuts aligned to your campaigns and the topics that matter to your audience. Months ten to twelve: the best moments return as promotion for next year’s event, alongside early-bird announcements. The event never really ends. It becomes your content engine.

What It Costs

Our multi-day conference packages run £10,000 to £16,000 + VAT and typically include the highlights film, speaker films and social cuts. Single-day coverage starts around £5,000. Compared with producing each piece separately across the year, filming once and cutting many times is the most cost-effective content you will ever commission. Full numbers are in our video production cost guide.

The Mistakes That Waste Footage

Three things ruin the plan. Filming without clean audio from the sound desk, so every talk sounds like it was recorded in a swimming pool. No consent plan, so the best audience moments are unusable. And deciding after the event that you want social content, when the framing, pacing and coverage were never designed for it. All three are solved by one planning conversation before the day.

Book the Conversation Before the Conference

If you have an autumn or spring event in the calendar, the time to plan the content engine is now, before diaries fill. A free 90-minute Discovery Session maps what your event could produce and what it would cost, whether you work with us or not.
